My Ideal Traveling > News > What is the Philosophy of Ayurveda Medicine?

Ayurveda is a system of traditional medicine that has its origins in India: the knowledge of life which is inscribed in the Vedas. The Vedas are the sacred texts at the base of Indian philosophy.

“Ayur” in Sanskrit means life, and “Veda” science or knowledge. Ayurveda is therefore “the knowledge of life or longevity”.

According to Ayurveda philosophy, every living and non-living being in this Universe is a combination of five basic eternal elements, called Pancha Maha Bhoothas and the laws of the Universe are the same of the human microcosm. Actually, the human body reflects the five elements that make up the universe, air, earth, fire, water and ether and every cell in the body has all the properties of the Universe. These eternal elements manifest in the human body in the form of three basic principles or moods – Thridosha in Sanskrit: Vatha, Pitha, Kapha. Body, mind and soul are in an interdependent relationship and interact with each other in creating the life of the individual.

The basic principles are the following:

Everything in the universe, both living and non living, is joined because everything in the Universe is made of the same natural elements: space, air, fire, water, and earth. We are deeply connected to to the environment.
We are in good health if we keep a good balance in connections with others and with the Universe.
Our harmony with the Universe is often disrupted by bad lifestyle. Bad choices in nutrition, lack of exercise and bad relationships can lead us to emotional and physical imbalance and then to deseases.
We are responsible for our own choices and of our health.

In Ayurveda, perfect health is defined as “a balance between body, mind, spirit, and social wellbeing.”

An Ayurveda retreat thus becomes a tool to help the individual maintain good health and well-being which will help him to pursue the goals of life, a tool for promoting life itself. With a holistic approach, to guide human beings in their wholeness and completeness, as part of the Universe. To live in well-being, the individual must live in harmony with himself, with the society in which he lives and therefore with the Universe to which he belongs.

What is the most suitable ayurveda treatment for your need? The ayurveda doctor during the daily consultation, will guide you through the right lifestyle and nutrition to find the perfect balance in your life.

My Ideal Traveling

Monica Bevacqua, My Ideal Traveling founder

“I have often found myself with a goodbye to make, a suitcase to prepare, a radical change to deal with and a new dimension to find. Managing changes in work, life and prospects have led me to my most authentic metamorphosis: to make a profession of the travel experience.

I  wanted to offer a choice of wellbeing paths, itineraries as evolutionary routes, to relax, disconnect the mind, but above all to learn to eat properly, to get moving, and to feel the value and importance of being at one with nature. Traveling is not only advancing, or embarking on a journey, it’s also a way to reach one’s center and direct oneself towards the other, diversity. This is where our true inner wealth is born“.
